Goodwood to host a moving show - Andrew Noakes - Motoring Writer

The Earl of March (with a brace of McLarens, above) has announced that the Goodwood Festival of Speed – the enormously successful motorsport pageant held in the grounds of his home, Goodwood House – will be extended to include a manufacturer preview day, dubbed a 'moving motor show'.

On Thursday 1 July 2010, the day before the Festival proper opens, car buyers will be able to see the latest new cars – and many of them will be available for passenger rides on a special evaluation route which inludes the Goodwood hillclimb course.

Lord March said: “The Moving Motor Show is a direct response to the continued enthusiasm and demand from vehicle manufacturers and the general car-buying public alike for an annual motor show in Britain. In recent years the British Motor Show has been bi-annual, and has now been cancelled altogether for 2010. My hope is that the Goodwood Moving Motor Show will become a ‘must attend’ annual event, enabling car buyers to see and experience the latest models, and giving vehicle producers the opportunity to showcase their products in a stunning setting and a relaxed environment.”
