It's been quiet here recently, and that's because I've been spending most of my time working on another website – Cartechnical.co.uk, which was launched in the summer.

The idea behind it is simple: there's more and more new technology in cars, but very few informed sources of information about it. Car magazines rarely cover automotive technology in depth like they used to, and online there is no shortage of opinions but very little fact-based explanation of what all these amazing technical advances do, and how they work. That's where this new site comes in.

Cartechnical covers all sorts of automotive technology – not just hybrids and electric cars and alternative fuels, but advances in conventional technology too. The site covers all the latest automotive technology news and it has road tests and first drives of new cars which are technically interesting, reviews, columns, guest articles and a whole lot more.
