Felipe Massa won the race, and accepted the end of his championship hopes with the dignity of a true sportsman. He'll be back next year - perhaps with Raikkonen alongside him, perhaps not - to challenge for the title again.

But the real winner tonight was Formula 1 itself.

After another year of controversy - with questionable decisions by drivers on track and race officials off it - we've finished the season with a race of drama and excitement and a result determined how it should be, on the track.

We've seen winners and losers act with true sportsmanship. And we've gained a fresh, exciting new champion.
