MSN Cars provides up-to-the-minute news, photos, features and opinions on the world of cars and motoring. Using an in-house content team as well as an extensive group of external suppliers MSN Cars creates engaging and interactive content using the best mix of editorial and multimedia, and the innovative use of social media tools. As well as quick reaction to news, the team builds extensive packages and sponsored areas for special events.
Motor industry professionals voted MSN Cars the automotive website of the year 2009 in the annual Headline Auto awards, and it is one of the most popular car websites in the UK. Websters is now looking for an additional full-time editor to join our vendor team at the MSN offices in Victoria to help take the MSN Cars channel to the next level.
Skills and attributes
- Experience in writing for a motoring magazine and/or website essential – including using content management systems
- Excellent writing and copy editing skills
- Keen interest in social media and multimedia
- A passion for cars and motoring
- Enthusiasm for using technology and learning new technology tools
- Creative thinker, self-starter and problem solver – a ‘can do’ attitude is essential
- Personal and professional integrity
- Journalism qualification advantageous
- High levels of attention-to-detail
- Working knowledge of Photoshop and MS Office
- Analytical skills/familiarity with web KPIs
Tasks and responsibilities include
- Writing feature articles, photo stories and other content types that are fun, timely and relevant to MSN users
- A big focus on the creation of long-term strategic projects and events, many of them sponsored and supported by key advertisers
- Working closely with sales colleagues to create new original and compelling sponsored areas
- Working to enhance Search Engine Optimisation of the site
- Leading brainstorms with the team and contributing feature ideas
- Contributing to the team’s blogs, Twitter and Facebook pages
- Contributing to podcasts and video projects as necessary
- Monitoring users’ feedback and, wherever appropriate, acting on it
- Monitoring competitor activity
- Creating and maintaining third party content according to relevant agreements and contracts
- Programming network entry points; tracking performance and optimising accordingly
