The 2010 show is no exception, with a bumper crop of new metal – both concept cars and production machines. Leading the production cars is Audi's A1, Ingolstadt's measured – and modern – response to the retro Mini and Fiat 500. Also revealed in Geneva will be Audi's hot RS5 coupe and the new Ford C-Max – hot on the heels of the Focus, unveiled in Detroit earlier this year. Geneva's concept cars include the low-drag Opel/Vauxhall Flextreme, Kia's hybrid Ray and an extended range plug-in electric Proton engineered by Lotus and styled by Italdesign.

The Geneva Salon is the first European motor show of the year and one of the biggest shows of all, so it's usually the venue for world and European launches from the big manufacturers.
