I've written or contributed to more than a dozen books on cars, motoring history and motorsport, working with publishers and packagers, often to tight deadlines. On several of these books I also contributed images, either shot specially or from my photo archive.

My books have always been well-received by publishers - one wanted to find me another project because 'you always do such a good job' - and reviewers have also made very positive comments. My history of the Ford-Cosworth DFV Formula 1 engine (above) won the Guild of Motoring Writers' prestigious Timo Makinen Trophy in 2007. Several of my books have been translated into German and Spanish.

All these books have been commercial projects but in 2010 I will also be contributing chapters for two academic books on specialist journalism.
